Many years ago

when you was just a child

running all around

goin' so wild,

you broke apart the pieces

and you scattered them around

now you're on the sidewalk

with a permanent frown.

It all was different

in another time

you the artiste,

the poet sublime.

You tore apart your dreams

and you left them

on the ground

now you wear the broken pieces

like a joker's crown.

Well the moon don't look

like it used to do

and there's nothin' more

that I can do.

The Moon

Well the shotgun layin'

on the floor empty

there's nothin' there

for you to see,

you shot my shoes

all across the floor

now there's someone knockin'

on the old front door.

Well they come for me

and they come for you

but it seems you just

didn't know what to do.

Well the answer is the truth

and the truth is in your heart

maybe that's the place

that you could start.

Well the moon ain't lookin'

like it used to do

and there's nothin' more

that I can do.
